Licence & scope
Quiet record of what the Creative Commons notice covers — and what remains separately licensed. This page is reference copy, not a dual-licence campaign.
Public specification
Public TLA-185 / TLA-169 specification and schema documentation are published under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0.
Attribution is required. Non-commercial reference use is permitted without modification under that licence. Commercial implementation requires a separate Archive licence. Unauthorised commercial use infringes copyright and is unlawful.
Copyright
Copyright in the public specification is held by The Landscape Vault Pty Ltd.
Copyright is intended for assignment to The Landscape Archive Foundation when a suitable independent entity is established. Until then, the Foundation is stewarded and powered by The Landscape Vault Pty Ltd; commercial products and support are operated by The Landscape Archive Pty Ltd. The intra-group licence between The Landscape Vault Pty Ltd and The Landscape Archive Pty Ltd is in force. Binding customer terms remain those published in the Archive Legal centre.
Inheritance horizon
The Foundation heralds Creative Commons so landscape architecture seventy years from now can still cite and check the open grammar. That horizon is stewardship succession.
CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 remains the ongoing public licence. Formal wills, assignments, and succession instruments remain matters for counsel; the governance page states the public intention.
Open grammar vs commercial tools
Citing the open TLA-185 field dictionary and conformance rules under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 is free. That Creative Commons notice does not licence Landscape Archive Tools desktop applications — including TLA-Institute, Veritas, Landscape Archive ML Hub, Plant Workbench, Plant Studio, and Plant Engine — filled Library depth, Hub / Revit delivery, Data API, Archive Seal attestation, or other commercial products of The Landscape Archive Pty Ltd.
Public validator and Evidence Checker inspect files locally. They are not Archive Seal, Foundation Approved, or government approval. Local desktop Evidence checks and admin-operated Seal verification are Archive product surfaces. Binding Archive terms are published on the commercial site.
Commercial products
Commercial products, populated datasets, and software — including the Landscape Library, The Landscape Archive Hub, Landscape Archive Tools desktop applications, connectors, Studio+™ materials, Data API, Archive Seal, and related delivery tooling — are licensed separately by The Landscape Archive Pty Ltd.
Those products are not offered under Creative Commons.
Software we provide
Landscape Archive Tools and related desks run as local Windows applications. Some are staged to a Landscape Archive Tools folder rather than offered as a public download. The licence still applies when they run.
TLA-Institute, TLA-SpeciesNote, and Veritas work on files you open or save on the device. Notes stay local until a signed-in member uses Submit for review, Contribute intake, Hub, or another Archive feature that sends that material. Empty measurements stay empty. Submission does not grant Archive Seal.
Binding Archive terms, including the EULA and Privacy Policy, are published by The Landscape Archive Pty Ltd on the commercial site.
